Favorite Colors and Bike Buses
Hello!
I remember each book I've announced quite vividly. I announced Looking for Alaska on my personal website almost exactly 20 years ago; I think in the first week I managed to garner a dozen or so preorders from people I knew personally. Katherines was announced on that same website. It wasn't until Paper Towns that vlogbrothers existed and I suddenly had a megaphone. It's no coincidence Paper Towns was my first book to debut on bestseller lists. I'd read chapters of The Fault in Our Stars on so many live shows and previewed it via the Project for Awesome, so that announcement didn't feel particularly seismic, although what came after certainly did. I was terrified to announce Turtles All the Way Down, what with its intensely personal aspects. The Anthropocene Reviewed felt manageable because most of the book already existed as a podcast.
People who've followed my work closely over the last few years probably aren't surprised this week to learn that my new book, Everything Is Tuberculosis (coming out in March and available for preorder now), is about the disease that I've been obsessed with for the last few years. But for people who know me primarily as a YA novelist, it feels like (and is!) quite a departure. So I was very nervous about announcing Everything Is Tuberculosis this week, and I'm so grateful that people have responded to the news of the book with such generosity. Thanks. I really hope you like the book. I'm signing 100,000 copies of the first printing and livestreaming some of the signing sessions. In fact, if you're reading this email shortly after it was sent, I'm signing live now. Come say hi!
John

In 2023, wind power generated nearly 60% of Denmark’s electricity. This made Denmark the country with the highest share of wind in its electricity mix. This is based on data from Ember.
Wind also contributes significantly to Denmark’s broader energy system. Data from the Energy Institute shows that wind power accounts for over a quarter of Denmark’s total primary energy consumption — the largest figure globally.
Denmark also ranks first in per capita wind power generation, with Sweden close behind.
